Specialised Engineering » Launching Truss Bridge Construction |
Launching truss method has been developed for multi-span bridges over difficult terrain or water where scaffoldings are expensive or not feasible at all.
The launching girder itself is normally a steel structure with rather sophisticated equipment, moving forward on the bridge piers span by span.
The method is highly adaptable for a wide range of spans and types of superstructure, and it can handle cast-in place concrete, as well as prefabricated elements. In fact, launching girders are most often used for placing prefab segments, match-cast and stressed together, or complete units spanning from pier to pier.
